1959 MGA TWIN CAM ROADSTER

The MGA twin cam’s rarity and performance make it a highly sought after car. Just over 2000 of these classic sportscars were produced and they have quite rightly earned a reputation for their striking good looks, impeccable road manners and sheer outright fun.

This example is presented in fantastic condition, with its original body, engine and gearbox, the car drives superbly.

Documentation includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate confirming the chassis number and factory build details.

The car was manufactured in 1959 as a left-hand drive export model.

Sold to the USA, the car spent the first 30 years of its life there until it was re-imported to the UK in May 1991.

A considerable amount of work has been carried out by renowned MGA specialist, Bob West. In 2009 he rebuilt the engine, including new valves, bearings and seals and also renovated the interior and bodywork trim.

A body off, full chassis up restoration and rebuild was undertaken in 2010, which is when the car was converted to right hand drive. This included rectification to all necessary body panels, a full repaint in the original MG black and all brightwork was re-plated.

The car was inspected by the MGA Register of the MG Car Club which confirmed its chassis, body and engine numbers as being the original components from its date of manufacture.

A substantial history file, with photographs documenting the rebuilds and invoices for parts and labour, shows the car has been continuously maintained by marque specialists since returning to the UK.

Fitted with a new Aldon distributor and electronic ignition, the current owner has had seat belts fitted, which are mounted inconspicuously behind the rear valance. A new tonneau cover and a lined storage bag for the side screens have also been made.
